STOP: c00002la FATAL SYSTEM ERROR {fatal system error}
the windows logon process system terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0×00000000 0×00000000) the system has been shut down
So I installed Starcraft 2 the night that it came out and I noticed today 8-1-10 that I started getting this error every time I booted up my HP laptop. I was able to play SC2 for a few days but eventually this error. I believe SC2 is causing this and I have already uninstalled it and I plan on running the disk clean up and Running the disk defrag. I will let you all know if this completely fixes my problem or not.

So Uninstalling Starcraft 2 did not fix the issue. However, I do believe it is related in causing me to have the error occur. Running a Disk Cleaup did not help and the Defrag did not help either. Looking online I found that someone said to use DrWatson to troubleshoot what was causing the problem. The problem was caused by a microsoft application and I didn’t really have any where else to turn.
At that point I wanted to reformat my hard drive to see if that would would. I have never had to to reformat before on this HP laptop so I decided to investigate how I might. I did not have any system restore points so that option was out of the question.
I found online that when booting if you press cntrl+f11 you can reformat your main hard drive assuming you have a second HP_RECOVERY hard drive. Luckily for me I was able to reformat the main hard drive by using the HP_RECOVERY. I am very thankful for this because I didn’t see any other way I could fix this computer. Especially since I did not have any CDs for the OS or drivers that came with this computer.
I hope this post helps others that may be having the same issues that I believe are related to SC2.
I am ordering a new HP computer just for Gaming and SC2. That way if this happens again hopefully I can easily reformat the computer. However, I doubt I will have to do that on a gaming computer rather than a laptop from 2006.
